Who We Are
Mission
Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TX (Habitat MCTX) brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Our Vision
A world in which everyone has a decent place to live.
History
Since 1989, Habitat MCTX has made homeownership a reality for nearly 200 hard-working families. Habitat MTCX’s unique homeownership program offers a hand-up, not a hand-out, to local homebuyers who are otherwise priced out of the traditional housing market.
Our Homeownership Program
Overview
Applicants to Habitat MCTX’s housing program are approved based on three criteria: the need for better, safer, more affordable housing; the ability to pay a mortgage; and the willingness to partner by completing SWEAT EQUITY service hours, attend financial and homeownership EDUCATION, and pay upfront closing costs. After completing sweat equity and purchasing their home, homeowners pay an affordable mortgage, which helps fund the construction of future homes.
Proven Results
The success of Habitat MCTX's 129-home Cedar Creek neighborhood in Conroe is a testament to the affiliate's homeownership program. A survey conducted in 2022 by the University of Houston's School of Social Work measured the success of the neighborhood. Habitat MCTX families reported substantial increases in their health, economic habits, neighborhood safety, and education opportunities for their children.

Impacts Beyond the House
Habitat MCTX makes a tremendous impact on the lives of homeowners. Our work impacts health, environmental, and educational outcomes; civic and social engagement; the financial stability of Habitat families; and local economies. Habitat MCTX's work contributes to our local economy by creating a ripple effect that multiplies our investment to generate a meaningful impact.
