Dear Friends,
At Habitat MCTX, we’re committed to partnering for livable communities—working hand-in-hand with residents to address the real concerns that shape the future of Montgomery County, Texas. In our community, 2 out of 7 households spend more than 30% of their income on housing. For many families, this means choosing between paying rent, healthcare insurance, or necessities. Habitat MCTX’s programs make a critical difference in these statistics. By providing safe, affordable homes, we ease the financial strain on families, allowing them to save for vacations, college tuition, and more.
We are thrilled to announce that our build season officially kicked off on September 12th! We’re raising the walls for FIVE new homes for Aniyah, Diana, Manuel, Esther, Jamie, and Sade. These five homes will soon change the lives of 15 family members, offering them a safe, affordable, and decent place to call home. Thanks to the incredible support from our home sponsors and donors. Save the Date October 1st: Habitat MCTX Day of Prayer

A group of dedicated volunteers from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and community members gathered to serve at Deanne's home repair and Green Scene Project, not knowing they were about to experience a moment that would inspire them all.
Among the volunteers that morning was homeowner Deanne, a woman who radiates gratitude and grace despite the challenges life has brought her way. Deanne's husband passed away just a few short years ago, leaving the responsibilities of homeownership to her. She needed a window repair that would require her to climb ladders and rooftops, which she could not access due to a degenerative disease.
Throughout the day, volunteers found that Deanne has dedicated much of her life to helping others. She spent over 30 years teaching children before she retired. Deanne was crucial in starting a local food pantry and actively participated in several other charitable efforts. Deanne has continued to serve her community despite life's trials. Today, she contributes her talents to Children's Books on Wheels, an organization run by her close friend, Rita Wiltz.
In a beautiful twist of fate, many volunteers recognized Rita's name. Just a few months earlier, volunteers from St. Anthony's had built a fence around Children's Books on Wheels as part of a community outreach project. "Little did anyone know that Deanne, who volunteers were serving that day, was also deeply connected to Rita and her work, creating a web of connections that surprised us all", explained volunteer, Shane from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
This connection was no coincidence. Just as Jesus met the woman at the well in the heat of the day, it seemed divine hands were at work bringing St. Anthony's volunteers together with Deanne, uniting two projects in service of one greater purpose. Deanne's spirit of giving is a testament to her faith and dedication. We are humbled to be part of her story, and we sincerely appreciate everyone who said 'yes' to the call to serve. Your dedication and support are invaluable, and we thank you for continuing to do His work. This unity of purpose is a powerful reminder of the impact we can make when we come together. We would like to thank Shane from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church for helping us put this story together.
If stories like Ms. Deanne's inspire you, we invite you to join us in making a difference. Your support helps us continue building homes, communities, and hope. Every contribution, big or small, helps create life-changing moments for families in need. Donate today and be part of the mission to bring God's love into action. Together, we can build a brighter future for our neighbors.
