Dear Habitat MCTX Friends and Neighbors,
First and foremost, we hope that you, your families, and home are safe after Hurricane Beryl rolled through. We have been sharing crisis clean up information, food bank resources and much more through our social media channels and hope you find them useful. If you don’t already please follow us on Facebook. We will be sharing information soon about our Hurricane Recovery efforts.
As we begin a new fiscal year, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TX (Habitat MCTX) is excited to celebrate the extraordinary year that just ended. During our 2023-2024 Fiscal Year, 1100 volunteers provide approximately 14,000 hours to Habitat MCTX in many different capacities. Our achievements are a testament to the unwavering support of these volunteers, donors, and community partners.
Reflecting on the Past Year:
New Homes Sold: We provided new homes to 11 deserving, hard-working families. Each family now has a safe, affordable place to call home. We thank our loyal Home Sponsors including Chevron Phillips Chemical and Phillips 66, John Cooper School, Momentum Title, Women Build Too - Can Do Crew, The Woodlands Methodist Church, Fitness Project, Oxy, St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Centerpoint Energy, Ovintiv, Granite, First America Homes, and the Longwell Family Foundation, and our faithful Habitat MCTX annual donors.
New Homes Started: Construction also began on 4 new homes for Helen, Jeanette, Margaret, and Mario and Ruth, bringing hope and stability to these future homeowners. We are excited to officially dedicate their homes later thisfall.
Home Recycled: We recycled one existing property and fixed it up for new owners, ensuring it continues to serve a deserving family.
Critical Home Repairs: Through our Critical Home Repair Program, we served 38 families and completed 46 individual repair projects. These repairs helped owners maintain their homes by addressing essential safety and accessibility. We were able to complete these repairs thanks to funding from many generous partners including LGI Homes, Houston Methodist, Texas Veterans Commission, Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation, Montgomery County Community Development, Tomball Regional Health Foundation, Montgomery County Community Foundation, Home Depot Foundation, Habitat for Humanity Housing Plus Grant, andour faithful Habitat MCTX annual donors. We invite everyone to read more about these families' inspiring stories on our website blog.
ReStore: The store that builds homes. During the 2023 - 2024, the ReStore received 4,849 donations of gently used home furnishing, building, and décor items. The sales of these items contributed significantly to our mission, diverting 688 tons of material out of landfills. We are excited to announce two new initiatives at our ReStore: an online eBay presence and a deconstruction program. Be sure to check them out.
Our work would not be possible without our volunteers' dedication and our community partners' generosity. As we reflect on these achievements and look forward to a new year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributes to our mission. Your support is crucial in helping us build a stronger community where neighbors and families thrive together.
Our 2024 – 2025 build season officially kicks off on September 12, 2024. We will raise the walls of the first of five new homes in Cedar Creek. We invite you to become part of the Habitat MCTX family this year, whether that is by being a committed donor, valued volunteer, or through a corporate sponsorship, please join us as we work together, to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
