Home Repair Program
Habitat for Humanity will help low-income homeowners in Montgomery County get relief from leaky roofs, broken windows, plumbing problems, and other small, critically-needed home repairs.
Homeowners with qualified income will be able to make affordable payment plans with Habitat for the repair costs. Habitat for Humanity ‘s home repair program combines licensed repair professionals, experienced volunteers, and your personal assistance to get the job done efficiently, professionally, and at a price, you can afford.

Weatherization Upgrades
What are weatherization upgrades?
Weatherization of your home includes a range of safety measures to reduce home energy costs and increase home energy efficiency. It addresses issues with plumbing, electrical systems, heating ventilation and air conditioning. We provide services to replace insulation, weather stripping, upgrading windows, and installing storm doors.

Stella lives on a plot of land she inherited from her grandmother, near where she was born and raised. The house she lives in is one she closed a deal on and had moved to her property. Since the purchase, she has made improvements and enlarged the house, but at a rate that was slower than what should we have liked. Like many people, she knew about Habitat, but thought they only built new homes.
During a casual conversation with her mechanic while getting her truck repaired, he revealed helpful information about Habitat’s Home Repair Program. She called the office, filled out the application in the Fall of 2020 and by December 2020, she had a new roof. Repairing her roof was a project she would have been unable to do without the help of a contractor. She was very pleased with the work of the roofing company and is thrilled that she qualified for the Home Repair Program.
This repair project was made possible by funds from the Community Development Block Grant provided by Montgomery County, Texas.
Rhonda lives in Willis and heard about the Habitat MCTX Home Repair program when she called 2-1-1, United Way in dire need of repairs on her home. Rhonda ecstatically applied for the program and was accepted! Habitat volunteers worked on her subfloor, flooring, and molding throughout her home. The work was about 90% complete when COVID-19 brought Habitat volunteer opportunities to a screeching halt. Habitat staff quickly kicked into plan B gear and hired a contractor to complete the work on Rhonda’s home.
Rhonda describes her experience with the organization as life-changing and loved working with Habitat staff, volunteers, and hired contractors. She’s grateful for the experience that she had and encourages other homeowners in need to apply for the program.
Nilda, her husband, and their two daughters live in a mobile home community near the Habitat MCTX ReStore on State Hwy 242 in Conroe. In 2017, Hurricane Harvey caused extensive damage to their home, and they were unsure if they would ever be able to recover from the storm. In their search for assistance, Nilda found out about Habitat’s Home Repair Program and called to see if they qualified for services.
Nilda and her family had a wonderful experience with the Habitat staff as they navigated the extremely difficult process of finding someone that could help them. She says that Habitat was a blessing to them in a time of great need!
Although the pandemic slowed the process down just slightly, Habitat repaired the outside siding on their home in the early fall of 2020. Nilda and her family were very grateful for the work that the volunteers did!
Hurricane Harvey destroyed the homes of thousands of Montgomery County residents in 2017. Aurelia was without an air conditioning unit for over three years before Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Texas helped her replace it with a new one and clean out her air ducts, which would have caused safety issues. In the Texas heat, this proved to be one of the worst things that could have happened to Aurelia’s home.
Habitat reached out to Aurelia in an effort to help find families who were still in need of home repair services following Hurricane Harvey. Within months, her unit was replaced by volunteers and her air ducts were cleaned by professional HVAC contractors, hired by Habitat. Aurelia gives thanks to Habitat for helping her repair her home so that she was able to stay in it – a luxury that many Montgomery County residents did not have.
